OAK   PARK   CONSERVATORY: SUB-TROPICAL   FERN HOUSE

Notice the striking central fern mound with many species capped by an Australian tree fern. Surrounding the fern mound are the seasonal floral displays. In the perimeter beds, on the east there is a collection of begonias; on the north, a collection of orchids; on the west, and extensive collection of bromeliads; and on the south, a sphagnum bog with a variety of catnivorous plants flanked by bird-of-paradise, hibiscus and Kaffir and swamp lilies. In this room are a number of specimen trees including ponderosa lemon, triangular leaf fig, rose apple and Oregon sea grape.

Let's look outside at the Prairie Patch.
