The Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest will hold its Fifth Annual Housewalk, Fabulous Fair Oaks: Oak Park’s Elegant Estate Homes, on Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year’s tour will feature seven outstanding homes in Oak Park’s exclusive Fair Oaks Subdivision that is part of the Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie School of Architecture Historic District.

Homes that will be open include magnificent Victorian, Prairie Style and Revival Style residences designed by Tallmadge & Watson, George W. Maher, Charles E. White, Jr. and other renowned architects.

This neighborhood, subdivided from the farm once owned by pioneer Henry Austin, Sr., was considered in 1890 to be "without question one of the best west of the city, the land itself partly high ridge……the improvements being made are first class."
