The palatial 24,000 square-foot River Forest
mansion that was built in 1929 by flamboyant radio pioneer William
Grunow and home to reputed Chicago mob boss Tony Accardo from
1951-1963 will be open on Saturday, September 17 from 10 am to 4 pm.
The owners of this 28-room English Tudor home at 915 Franklin, who
wish to remain anonymous, have recently completed a three-year
renovation of their home and have generously agreed to open it for
one-day only to benefit The Historical Society of Oak Park and River
Forest. Don't miss this unique opportunity to tour this
meticulously restored residence and also learn more about the lives
of its two famous owners.
Please note the house is not handicapped
accessible and children under 12 will not be admitted. Also,
high heels, interior photography, cell phones and large backpacks
will not be allowed. This event is sold out. If you have
made previous reservations you may arrive at the home during your
reserved two-hour block time. If you do not have a paid
reservation, you will not be admitted. Not tickets are
available at the door.
