Happy New Year!

Although it may seem strange now, New Year's postcards were once extremely popular.  We must remember that communications at the turn of the last century were very primitive compared to what we have today, so people could purchase and mail a New Year's greeting quickly and inexpensively.  Unlike most New Year's postcards the one shown here lasted all year long.  It is a  mechanical postcard published by P.F.B. in Germany during the early 1900's.  One could rotate the month, date, and day by turning the serrated wheels on the sides of the card.  It is truly a postcard "that kept on giving all year long."  Look for the Christmas and New Year's  postcard displays of Joe May's  currently on display at the          Historical Society.
