An appreciation for local history has prompted many area residents to become members of The Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest, but as our services increased we saw more and more people become members who were not from this area for many different reasons. Some became members because of our programs while others because of conducting research and were happy with the service they were provided. For the past 35 years, our business has been to work each week to save the priceless materials that allow us to understand the past and build for the future. If you are not familiar with the Historical Society or have not visited us lately, we invite you to stop in and see our growing collection throughout the entire second floor of Pleasant Home, located in Mills Park. By joining the Historical Society, you will help us to keep history "alive" by helping us to continue to operate our Museum and Research Center as well as being able to provide quality programming all year long. You'll receive our members-only newsletter, discounts on all programs, and discounts on our merchandise and in our research center. Please join us in membership or send a gift membership to a friend or neighbor. We do not receive any tax dollars, but exist only because of the loyalty and generosity of our members. We need the support and participation of everyone interested in the exploration of our rich heritage. Together, we can preserve, expand, and interpret our collective history. Our grandchildren will thank us! Click on the word Membership to download the membership form. You may print and send in your form, along with a check written to The Historical Society of OPRF and then you'll receive your membership card in the mail.
