DuSable Museum of African American History

Description: Founded in 1961 in honor of Chicago's first non-indigenous settler, Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable, the DuSable Museum remains Chicago's only museum dedicated to African American history. Their permanent collection contains over 12,600 pieces including paintings, sculpture, print works and historical memorabilia and artifacts. Its mission is to preserve and interpret the historical experiences and achievements of African-Americans.
